"For once?" Blaise asked, wondering the sort of mischief that she usually got up to as he turned them both away from the school and towards the park - after all, hanging around with a beautiful woman after dark was much more enticing than bed alone.

Maia's smile widened slightly when she realised they were no longer heading in the direction of the castle. "Yes, I generally don't get along with other people. Girls, mostly." And men? Well, she didn't trust men. Anyone, really, but men especially.

"Any specific reason?" Blaise asked curiously. After all, he didn't either, but because he was selective in who he was fond of.

Maia shrugged. "I don't like them, they don't like me. I'm not really sure why exactly," she answered, truthfully. "There are people who I am quite... you know, fond of and like, but there's still some kind of a wall between them and I. I don't know what it is. I'm just strange." The topic made her furrow her brows and frown for a moment, but remembering her company, she forced it away. "So why is it, Zabini, that we haven't talked till now?" she asked, with a smile. It really was rather strange. Being in the same house and all, she did see him quite often.

If he were being honest, Blaise didn't have a reason. He never talked to anyone, really, he didn't like going out of his way. "I'm a busy man" He supplied, "And you, a beautiful woman, must be surrounded by men all the time anyway."

Maia scoffed. "Ha! Hardly," she answered, "Well, maybe at one point, but I think I sent them all running in the opposite direction as soon as I opened my mouth to speak."

"And why would that be?" Blaise asked, genuinely curious. She obviously had a low opinion of herself, with the way she was talking about her own attributes.

Maia gave a sort of half shrug. "Not sure," she lied, not wanting to think too much on it. "But I don't care too much. That's just the way things are, I guess. Some people put the effort into being friendly and all that nonsense. I choose not to. It was my own decision, in a way."

"You like being disliked?" Blaise asked, not really understanding.

For some reason Maia smiled at his not understanding her. "Not exactly, I just don't like trying so hard to please everyone," she answered, "For me, it usually requires pretending to be someone else. I may have tried that once or twice, and it is far too much work, if you ask me."

"What's wrong with you that you have to pretend to be someone else?" Blaise asked, "Are you doing it right now? You seem fine to me." Better than fine, he liked her quite well.

Maia didn't really want to answer his question - besides, she wasn't entirely sure. She thought it might have something to do with the fact she thought out loud far too often. Most people didn't like what happened to cross her mind. Oh, and the fact her default attitude towards most people was extreme dislike - that probably didn't help much either. "No, not really," she said, looking over at him, before laughing. "You must be weird."

"Or you aren't as weird as you think" Blaise supplied, since he knew he wasn't weird. They continued until the main street ended and Blaise gestured to the park. "A fine enough way to waste the evening."

Maia loved the Hogsmeade park, almost as much as she loved the Willow. An evening spent in the park - and with good enough company, too - would hardly be wasted, in her opinion. She went in after him. "I don't know about you, but I've always thought that everything's so much more beautiful after dark," she said, suddenly, eyes drifting over the park.

Blaise saw the opportunity to think of her that way, but didn't voice it. "I'm more inclined to say that it's more intriguing" He supplied, leisurely strolling towards the structure in the center and climbing up to the very top - atop a plastic roof that allowed a view of the whole place. "Care to join me?"
