Graham was a little upset about what Astoria had said. How could he have done the most for her when he hadn't even done anything. With as much as Astoria gave to others... he just wasn't pleased. "You're welcome." Graham didn't want to make her feel worse about it than she probably already did.

He wasn't pleased - she knew he wouldn't be. Slowly, she drew her hand from his, "Did you want another cup of tea, or did you have other plans?"

"No other plans." Graham assured her. "I think another cup sounds good." He took her hand back wanting to stop whatever thoughts she was having, something was turning there, and Graham had a feeling it wasn't all that good.

He was right about nothing good coming from her overactive thoughts; he probably didn't want her to get attached to him - didn't want her to think of him as something more than a friend. Of course, if she ended up marrying him...
But then pureblood marriages weren't meant to be emotional.
Graham took her hand back, though, so Astoria wondered if she was wrong; maybe she just overanalyzed everything (seemed likely). Besides that, he wanted to spend more time with her. She smiled, nodding. "Another cup sounds good."

That was the spirit, although Graham had thought that, for a moment, Astoria wasn't too sure that he was sincere. He couldn't blame her for that. Most pureblood guys told you what you wanted to hear if it benefited them or made thier lives easier. To say he wasn't like that himself sometimes would have been a lie, but that just wasn't the case at the moment. He offered her another smile glad that she'd argeed before waving Madam Puddifoot over to relay their orders again.

Astoria was glad (though shocked) that the place wasn't busy. She ordered another of the same, blushing at the knowing smile from the older woman, once more. She even considered drawing her hand back again, but decided better of it; he'd already taken it back once.

He too ordered a second cup of what he'd been drinking. Astoria's blush, no matter how many times he saw it, was still stunning. "Do you think your parents will be receptive of me. I know I'm not as prestigious as Draco."

"I think they'll be pleased that anyone's interested in me at all" Astoria said slowly, smiling in a very sad way, "Besides, it leaves Daphne for Draco - which is better, as far as they're concerned."

"I'm sure Daphne will be pleased about that." As it stood Astoria potentially being promised to Draco must have killed Daphne, when she thought she should undoubtedly get the, for lack of a better term, most eligible bachelor.

Astoria nodded, because she was sure that Daphne would be, and smiled, because she was undoubtedly pleased about it, too. Graham was much more fun to be around, and she could imagine them having a good life together - beyond wealth. "If Draco even wants her, that is - I don't think he's very fond."

Graham didn't think that Draco liked Daphne at all. She was worse than Pansy in his opinion and most of the time, from what he understood, Draco could barely stand her. The only thing that Daphne had going for her was her looks. "He'll sort it out." Which Graham was sure he would do if need be.

"As Draco normally does" Astoria smiled fondly. She really did like Draco as a friend - they were closer than people generally thought they were. "So do you have any other... prospects?" She asked after a moment, wondering if the question was appropriate but too curious not to ask.

"Not that I know of." Graham answered honestly. "I don't pay any attention to that sort of thing." His mum was the one that took care of all the choices and then got approval from his father who would be the one to go into negotiations with the families. It had surprised them that Graham took any interest in it at all when he suggested Astoria to them! But it seemed to please them nonetheless, especially his choice.

"Except now," Astoria pointed out, "Thank you again for going out of your way."

In all honesty Graham wouldn't have done it if he didn't want to, but he didn't see any reason in dismissing her thanks completely. "You're welcome. I still say your probably doing me the favor. Mum goes solely for breeding, and you know what most of those girls are like. With you I get what I want and my parents are happy too."
