Astoria nodded, thoughtful. "I never thought of it like that." She admitted, taking another sip of her tea.

"How did you think of it?" Graham returned, genuinely interested. Astoria was smart and Graham was willing to hear her perspective.

"Well, before reading your book, I never really thought of it at all - in terms of concrete thought. But before talking to you, I thought that it would either be that everything is predetermined; actions, decisions, the way we end up; or that it wasn't. But I suppose, even in your view, that if all decisions lead to the same end, the decisions themselves don't matter." Astoria explained, pursing her lips as she finished and running her finger around the ring of her mug again.

"What does matter is how well we choose to live our lives with the decisions we can and do control." Graham pointed out. Looking down at his tea he noticed that it was half gone. Time seemed to fly right by with Astoria something that he kept forgetting and for once he didn't actually mind.

"I see" Astoria nodded. Another bit of opinion that could change her life drastically.

"It's all relative." Graham informed finishing off his tea. He was seriously thinking about another cup.

Astoria nodded. "I suppose it is." She said after a moment, noting that his tea was finished and lifting hers to finish it as well, as she thought he would have wanted. After all, they had discussed both books, and that was all this was... right?

"I got a response from my father the other day." Graham wasn't sure if Astoria would want an update on this or not but after weighing his options he decided she would want to know. "He said that he would speak with your father right away." he had a feeling it had more to do with snaking a Malfoy's, as his father would put it, prize out from under him than Graham asking but whatever worked.

She nearly choked on her huge gulp of tea. "You already asked?"

"Yes..." Graham said slowly not understanding her surprise. "I told you that I would. Is that not okay?"

"No! I mean, no, that's not it - yes, it's okay. I just thought... I don't know, I thought you were going to decide later for sure, I didn't realize... I didn't realize it was an immediate letter-to-father situation, that's all" Because if she had, she would have already owled her mother to get a feel for her father's opinion. But she could easily do that tonight - or later today, or once she'd left the tea shop. "So he's already said yes, then? Your father, not mine."

Graham with held his smile, although he found Astoria's rambling sweet. When Graham said he was going to do something he was the type of person who liked to carry out his claims and promises. "He said yes." Graham confirmed. He thought about telling Astoria why his dad had been so keen on the idea but decided against it. Graham didn't want Astoria thinking that he had the same sentiments as his father did.

"Well that's nice of him - I would say thank you, but it hardly seems the situation would be appropriate; or even arise. Maybe I'll thank him if anything does come of it. Would that annoy him, do you think?" Astoria continued, her hands absently fiddling with the bottom of her dress under the table. "I should be thanking you, too - saving me like you seem to have done."

Graham's dad wouldn't be annoyed by Astoria thanking him. He would love having her thank him actually, for his son being a better choice than a Malfoy. It was ridiculous, his father, but Graham would never mention such a thing aloud whether his dad was around or not. It was disrespectful and that was one thing that Graham would never be toward his parents. "He wouldn't be annoyed. As for you thanking me it isn't necessary. I wanted to do this."

"Just because you wanted to doesn't mean I shouldn't thank you; you've done more for me in that simple question than most people I've known my whole life." Astoria pointed out without thinking about what she was even saying, reaching across the table for his hand again. It was true, but she felt bad for voicing it aloud once she realized she had, though she couldn't take it back.
