"I'd be willing to bet that your lady friend is more charming than I am." Kurtis grinned, still finding it very amusing to tease him.

"She is." Kevin agreed bluntly, unabashedly. "Prettier too." He added for good measure.

Kurtis, from this, gathered that Kevin had slept with the elusive girl. "And still, you stay. Starting to think you're into me, Kevin, not going to lie."

"Yes, well, you've never been all that bright Adams. Easy to make such mistakes as that." Kevin wasn't going to be goaded, or at least he planned that he wasn't going to be.

"I just figure that, dim as I might be, I would never be dim enough to lay in bed alone when I could just stop being stubborn and have a girl laying with me." Kurtis retorted, not offended in the least.

Kevin was annoyed, he hated when Kurtis was right. "A tiger can't change it's stripes, so it goes that I can't suddenly stop being stubborn." Which was exactly what Kevin was doing so he didn't have to admit that Kurtis was right.

"That's what paint is for" Kurtis said after a moment, "A temporary change."

"Have you ever known a girl to be content with a temporary fix?" Kevin countered. Because he hadn't ever heard of something like that.

"Never said it'd solve your long term problem of not being able to find anyone in the world who can tolerate you, but a temporary lapse in stubborn that results in you going to find her would at least stop you from being a lonely old dog." Kurtis retorted, "At least, it would stop you from being a lonely old dog until she realized what a tool you are."

Kevin wasn't offended by Kurtis, for that to happen he would first have to care what the other boy thought. "Will it get you to shut up? I find your voice grating."

"It might" Kurtis shrugged one shoulder. "Only one way to find out."

"Beg to differ." Kevin could just cast the silencing charm on Kurtis to get the same result, but he wasn't going to do that. Instead he heaved himself out of bed, chucked his pillow at Kurtis' face, and headed toward the door, testing it out.

Kurtis didn't say anything, tossing the pillow at the door as it closed behind Kevin, though he was pleased with how well that went; usually Kevin was too clever to be tricked into doing anything.
