Roger had been wandering about the castle, coming down rather slowly from the Ravenclaw common room. He had spun through all the major halls and corridors on his way down, taking an obscure route to Quidditch pitch for a bit of private practice. In fact, he had his broom thrown over his shoulder and had to be careful not to sideswipe paintings, statues, or whatever people he had come in contact with. He had only just stepped into this particular corridor and noticed that his shoe was untied. Looking around, he made his way over to the only statue in the hall and propped the broomstick against one side of it. He threw his foot up against the other side of the statue and went about retying his boot.

Katie liked the gargoyle statues, because they were so weird and awkward and... well, far away from the common room, if she was being honest. She never expected to see anyone there, really, but she was pleasantly surprised to see Roger bent in a most attractive way at the statue she usually visited. She had thought about going to find him, because she was going to try to use her feminine wiles on him to make Oliver jealous - a clever plot if she did say so herself. That was why instead of greeting him properly, she wolf whistled, walking towards him with a grin.

Roger was enthralled with his shoelaces and didn’t hear the girl approach until she whistled, that is. He replied over his shoulder, “See something you like, love?”. People who knew Roger knew how he communicated and this was obviously someone who knew Roger. He couldn’t contain a cheeky grin as he lowered his leg and spun around to see exactly who had whistled. Upon noticing it was Katie his grin changed to a smile. “Ah, Miss Bell. Always a pleasure.” He even added a wink as he crossed his arms and leaned back against the statue.

"I assure you, the pleasure is all mine" Katie smiled, stepping up right in front of him. "I do see something I like" She informed, "His name is Roger and he's the captain of the Ravenclaw team." Because really, she did see something she liked - and if she could pull this off, she hoped to be able to get something that she wanted.

Roger had to admit he was a bit taken aback by her response; so much so in fact that his shoulder slipped off the statue. He quickly caught himself and returned to his leaning position. He had always thought she had a thing with Oliver Wood, not to mention that for as much of a flirt as he was he was rarely serious about it. Clearing his throat a bit, he shrugged. "Well...how may I be of service, Miss Bell?"

Katie smiled. This was going much better than she had thought it would, because really she hadn't seen it going well at all. "Well, Mister Davies, I was just wondering how much of your flirting is just bluster, and how much is genuine" She explained, "Because I'm looking for a date to Hogsmeade, and I was hoping you would be it."

For the first time and only time in recent memory, Roger seemed to have been found out. Lowering his head and hiding a shy smile, he thought over his next move carefully before finally clasping his hands behind him and taking a step over closer to Katie. "It would be my pleasure, Miss Bell." he said, raising his head to meet her gaze and flashing his best charming smile.

Excellent! Her plan was working so far, now she just needed to woo him on their date into being her actual boyfriend and everything would be peachy. Katie, smiling as coyly as she could muster, tucked her hair behind her ear. "I look forward to it," She admitted, thinking better of it and shooting him a wink as well. "Now what did I interrupt you from?"

He gave a polite nod and gestured to the broomstick that stood leaning against the side of the statue. "I was taking a leisurely stroll down to the pitch to take in some flight time. You're more than welcome to join me, if you'd like." He sauntered around the statue to the broom and took hold of it, but remained still as he waited for her reply.

"Didn't bring my broom" Katie smiled sadly, "But I'll walk you there, if you want the company" She offered anyways. Spending time with him was definitely the way to do this, and so that was exactly what she was going to do.

Roger shrugged a bit. "If you'd like...or we could stay here and chat." he suggested, quickly adding, "I can practice anytime." He was still half-convinced she was up to something, as most Gryffindors always seemed to be, but he had to admit he was intrigued and she was a lovely girl.

"Well, I wouldn't want to keep you from something as important as practicing - I don't want to be accused of cheating by distracting you" Katie smiled, though she would have really liked to be able to spend more time with him. After all, for all her plan was, if they didn't get along it wouldn't work - and she'd never really spend enough time hanging around him to know for sure whether it was a good idea.

He gave a curt laugh and leaned in a bit closer to Katie. "Who's to say you don't always distract me?" And here he was, back to shameless flirting. He leaned the broom back against the statue and ran his fingers through his hair. Maybe she was up to something, but it might be a good time anyway.

Katie followed suit, leaning in closer to him, "It would only be fair - you always distract me" She smiled, lifting her hand to run through his hair, as his own had done. "I'd always wondered if it was as soft as it looked," She mused, looking from her hand to his eyes.

He looked up at her hand as she reached for his hair and let a small grin paint its way across his face. "Well it is the eighth world wonder after all." he teased, dropping his gaze and catching hers. He watched her for a moment before his Ravenclaw-curiosity got the better of him. Raising an eyebrow slightly, he lowered his voice and spoke quietly, "What exactly are you playing at, Miss Bell?"
