Hayden sat in the back corner of the library, oh how the weekends were boring. They were so boring in fact that she had broken down and finally picked up that book that McGonagall had given them a week ago, Intermediate Transfiguration. The book that Hayden actually wanted to read was Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling. But see, she wanted to read it, and this would destroy the point of reading in Transfiguration. It was one of those classes that you had to push yourself to do and “enjoy”. Hayden wasn’t bad at the class; it just wasn’t anything that she would ever like. It seemed over rated, unless of course you could change into a cat or something of that nature.
It seemed as if you didn’t push yourself out the door to Hogsmead, there was no way you would have an enjoyable afternoon. Why not go to Hogsmead you may wonder, because of the rain that fell hard in sheets in the surrounding area. A few 3rd years had gotten the courage to trug out there, but that was only because they were still high off of the wafting scents and quirky shops to care. But Hayden being a sixth year had finally found that it was not worth the trouble to go out for a butter beer. Maybe the next weekend, if it wasn’t cold and wet.
Water was not good for canvas shoes. These shoes of course were her favorite. They had a nice floral pattern to them and had a Keds type shape to them and where Hayden’s go-to-shoes. Comfortable, broken in, holey. Her roommates hated them, but who gave a crap. If they ever would complain about the occasional stench that came from them, Hayden would reply what smell or smells like heaven or have you ever loved something, it depended on her mood. Everything depended on her mood, this would determine what she wore or her ability to do where work in classes. It would determine whether or not she would wear gray or colour, or the thickness of her jacket, the how traditional her Hogwarts uniform would look.
The only class that she would willingly try for was Charms. It was like watered down Transfiguration. Transfiguration was like something that Hayden liked the idea of but hated it in practice, like government theory or any philosophy that you would like to test. Hayden did have an intelligent brain, but didn’t have the motivation for most of the work that her classes demanded. This was a trait her father had passed down to her, go daddy. But she still pulled an O out of most classes, thank god for natural talent.
This was the weird thing about her even being at the library in the first place, who wants to work or do anything at all. Hayden’s conscience had over ride her personality and figured that actually passing, which in her mind is an O, Transfiguration would do some good for her. If she, in real circumstances, failed a class, her parents would pull her right back to London and make her go to Muggle School or worse. If her parents really thought Hayden was a fail they would home school. Ew. Then her life would disintegrate to literally nothing, back to normal life, and who wants to be normal.
