It would have been a dumb idea to go venturing into the Forbidden Forest after curfew. Maia knew that. With Prefects and Professors keeping a watchful eye out, only someone skilled would not be caught. Maia decided not to risk it - not because she cared for a few lost house points or because she detested detentions, but rather because she refused to be caught by anyone doing anything, ever. Her ego would just not have it.
And so she chose to do a little exploring at a time where students and professors alike would both be far too preoccupied with something more important. Like having dinner, for example.
As soon as the feast was served, Maia made her way out onto the grounds and through the thicket trees. She thought she'd done a pretty good job at sneaking, but a shadow behind the trees made it seem otherwise. Maia inwardly groaned, hoping to Merlin she was imagining it.

Tonight Maia wasn't the only one in the forest moving about. The sole difference between her and Drippy, however, was that Drippy was in there for a detention, on her way out, rather than trying to sneak in. She'd left Hagrid further in once he'd decided it was safe enough for her to make her way out by herself and had gotten the fright of her life upon hearing the other girl moving around.
'Maia?' Drippy called quietly with a sigh of relief once she'd recognised the other girl, not asking what she was doing in here just yet, instead making her way slightly closer.

When Maia was certain the shadow she saw was not a figment of her imagination, the first thing that came to mind was to get back behind a tree as fast as she could, thinking it was probably a Professor. She stood still behind the trunk of a tree, but the voice that came now told her she had not been quick enough. Still, she sighed, knowing full well now that it could not be a teacher. "Drippy?" she called back to the voice, who had said her name. She moved from her place, looking back at where the voice seemed to be coming from and squinted into the darkness.

'Yeah' Drippy called back softly, not wanting to draw any attention to the two of them being there. Instead of talking anymore, she moved a little closer, stopping when she was in a patch of moonlight shining through the trees, deciding this was a good place to stand, at least as far as being able to see each other went, anyway.

Maia caught a glimpse of the fellow Slytherin in the moonlight and stepped away from her former hiding place. "Oh, thank Merlin," she sighed again, stepping closer. "What are you doing in here?"

'Serving detention' Drippy told Maia with a slightly sheepish grin before she asked the other girl what she was doing in the forest, feeling that it was only fair. Besides, it wasn't like Drippy was going to run off and tell anyone.

Maia hesitated a moment before opening her mouth to speak again. By default, she didn't trust Drippy, just like she didn't trust anyone else, but after another quick moment of thinking things over, she supposed telling the other girl wouldn't be very much of a risk. She never knew Drippy to be a tattle-tale against her own kind, anyway. "I'm exploring," she informed the other girl. "I've been so bored these past few days. I need some... excitement, back in my life."

'Exploring in the forest...That sounds more like dangerous than exciting' Drippy grinned, shaking her head slightly. It was Maia's choice what she did and Drippy wasn't overly concerned about it, she just thought she'd state the obvious.

"Ah, but that's just the thing, Drippy," Maia answered, with a smile and wide eyes. "Danger is exciting."
