Declan had a letter that he'd had to send two days ago and yet his owl hadn't returned from where ever it had gone, something that annoyed him to no end. It was for this exact reason that he was now down at the Post Office, letter in hand as he searched around for the perfect owl to get the job done as soon as possible, since the letter was now rather late being sent.

Kevin would have preferred not having to come to the Post Office, but his order from the book shop had just come in and the load was far too heavy for an owl to deliver, which was why he found himself standing at the counter waiting for the incompetent postal worker to discover where he had misplaced his package at. Seeing the mounds of uniformed packages lining the back room Kevin frowned watching as the scrawny, specked twerp flapped around frantically.

Ah, the perfect owl seemed to have been hovering just above Declan the whole time. With a quick call the bird was down at his level and he was tying his letter to it's leg, just wanting to get the damn thing sent so it could be over and done with.

Glancing over his shoulder the worker apologized breathlessly as he continued his search. Irritation building Kevin forced himself to turn away and focus his attention on something else. "Incompetent git." He muttered looking around at the owls that were nestled all about. There were few other patrons and only one seemed to be close to Kevin's age. The owl the boy had picked was magnificent gaining Kevin's attention.

With little hesitation Declan made sure the letter was tied securely before he gave the bird an affectionate stroke and then sent it on it's way. Once that was done he turned around to size up the line to pay.

Once the owl had taken off Kevin dropped his gaze to the boy who had picked it. He didn't know his name and didn't particularly care to either, but Kevin did know that he had seen him around plenty. A Slytherin if he wasn't mistaken. Glancing over his shoulder for a second the oaf of a worker was still scurrying around. "It'll be a while." Kevin informed the boy.

Declan had nothing much to say in response to this piece of information although it was somewhat appreciated despite the fact that it was something he'd expected anyway, which was why he was prepared for such a thing. Without a word he pulled more than enough money out of his pocket to cover the cost and placed it on the counter, not at all interested in hanging around.

Watching as the boy he just waltzed over slamming his money down on the counter, Kevin frowned. Didn't the boy know anything about proper conduct? There was procedure for the worker as well, having to write in the ledger which owl was sent out and for how long to keep track of their property. "Excuse you." Kevin called to the boy. "You forgot something."

Declan turned around after that, eyebrows just ever-so-slightly raised in a way that just dared the other boy to continue, to tell him what he'd forgotten. There was at least four times the amount there to pay for where that owl had gone and Declan could see no reason to worry about it when the money would easily cover a new owl, should it be absolutely necessary.

Kevin was unfazed by the look on the other boys face. He didn't care how much he'd given, he just stood on principle. Not only was his courtesy completely forgotten in this situation but, essentially, the boy had cut in front of him in line. Didn't this kid understand what such things were created for. It was first come first serve, not jump in front of someone else, slap money on that table, and leave. "You forgot your manners." Kevin informed not at all deterred by the warning expression on the other boys face.

'And you've forgotten to mind your business' Declan growled, far from impressed by this stage.

"Business is mine though." Kevin pointed out. "Considering you not only cut in front of me but also I'll be the one that will have to answer the clerks questions for you because you are both impatient and a git apparently."

'And perhaps I've prearranged this' Declan voiced, curious to see the boys reaction to that particular path. Fact was, he'd done this a few times before and nothing had ever been said.

"Common courtesy still remains." Kevin countered not at all shifting his stoic expression. He was a bit irritated with the hypothetical, though he doubted the boy had prearranged anything otherwise he wouldn't have left it unverified, he would have simply said he'd prearranged it.

'And in my experience common courtesy is to mind you business rather than to stick your nose into other peoples. I've not cut the line at all, you've not been held up any and he'll address my business once the shop frees up' Declan growled, starting to get incredibly frustrated and annoyed with the other male.
