His area of the dorm was lined with junk. His room at home was lined with junk. His trunk was full of junk. And yet, Caleb Gavin found in necessary to constantly buy more junk.
He called himself a collector, his mother called him crazy. He didn't mind. Picking through an odds and ends bin, He pulled out a fantastic boot - and in his size!
Cal decided he'd buy it, if he could find the match. But where could it be?

Chris was enjoying some free time, wandering around Diagon and stopped to observe the people at the market stalls, there were always some interesting characters. Her sharp eyes picked out the title of a book she'd been looking for at one of the stalls and she moved forward and picked it up. What on earth was a copy, and a first edition no less!, of "Middle Eastern Revenge Rituals" doing in a place like this? Paying the paltry sum that the stall keeper asked she took the book and rolled her eyes when she saw a Hufflepuff boy waving a boot in the air, and obviously missing the fact that its partner was lying in the bin behind. Walking over to them she picked the other boot up and dangled it in front of him "Looking for this by any chance?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

Cal looked at the boot she was holding, then shook his head. "Not quite. I mean, it looks like that, but that's too big. See?" He answered, holding up the boot he was looking for the pair to, which was quite a bit smaller. "The pair for that one is in the bin over there." He explained.

Chris blinked. Her eyesight had never failed her before, but the boy was right, the shoe she was holding was bigger. Perhaps the years of reading books by a single candle had finally caught up with her and she needed glasses? Not saying anything she glanced around and picked up another boot, the same colour and pattern as the other two. Holding it up to the one the Boy had she noted that this one was the correct size. She held it out to him "Here, this must be it then"

"Uh.." Cal wasn't sure how he'd missed that, since it was right in front of him. "Thanks, then." He said, taking it with a small, awkward smile, and turning to go oay.

Chris watched him, confused, although her features were arranged into their usual calm mask. Acting on a whim, she grabbed another book, This time on Etiquette, without really looking at the title and stood behind, waiting for her turn to pay. She felt like she ought to say something but was at loss as to what. Eventually she settled for the age old, typically British comment on the weather. "Looks like it might rain" As soon as the words left her mouth she inwardly cursed herself, She hated people who could come up with nothing more interesting than comments on the weather, and now it seemed, she was one of them. Not accustomed to feeling silly, she opened the book and raised it to cover the pink that she was sure now colored her cheeks. What in Merlin's name was wrong with her?

Cal, shocked at the random comment, turned to look at the girl who'd helped him again. Did she really think he was that unobservant? "Yeah," He answered, nodding though not animatedly. "Sort of."

Chris, having re-gained her composure, lowered the book and offered a slightly awkward smile. "My apologies, my conversation is not a scintillating as normal when I'm sleep-deprived" She stepped up to the counter and fished some coins out of her purse.

Cal knew he was meant to ask why she was sleep deprived, but he didn't... well, he didn't really care. "Don't worry about it." He said, holding his boots and eyeing them surreptitiously. He wasn't as excited now that he hadn't had to hunt.

Chris wasn't really worrying about it, but decided that she probably should keep her mouth shut while she was still in such a strange mood. Spotting her friend Elena over on the other side of the street Chris made her escape before she did anything else odd. "Nice to meet you err...anyway." She trailed off, realizing that they hadn't introduced themselves. She mentally shrugged, gave a slight smile, wished him a pleasant day and went over to her friend.
