Nix rolled her eyes and laughed ,"animals can sense unease, fear, worry" she said matter of factly again and then shrugged her sholders ,"when I'm a wolf I guess it happens but you don't notice much but when I change back for a hour or so I can sense people who are worried or fearful or uneasy and normally it's easy to work out why by looking at them" she said in explanation and then she lifted a hand and ran it through her hair again making it yet more messy once again

"Hmmm" Chris mused, running through everything she knew about animagus's in her mind. "It's fascinating. I must check out some more books on it tomorrow. She noticed that they were now in the great hall. "So, spell now or when we reach the forest?" she asked.

Nix nodded her head and took out her wand and then tapped it to the side of her head, a small patch of her red hair suddenly shrank back into her head and a patch of black fur replaced it. She muttered a small spell and then flicked her wand and winced her eyes as the fur was cut away from her hair and then she reached her hand out to the other girl and then held her wand over it ,"take this and crush it in your hand ,you'll see why after a moment" she said as she waved her wand again and her hair began grow out of her head again

Slightly confused and not liking the feeling at all, Chris accepted the fur, crushing it in her hand. Chris prided herself on her ability to absorb knowledge like a sponge and her near photographic memory. Was this something to render her as a friend of sorts to Nix's pack?

Nix felt the cool patch on her head go away after a moment and reached up a hand and felt over her head ,her hair had grown out again, she was ok. She smiled and then took up her wand and tapped the other girls hand and muttered quietly in wolf and then took her wand away, she had been told it felt cold when the fur changed in to it's stone but she didnt know because she was one of the wolves so she had never needed protection from another, "open your hand when the heat goes away" she said with a smile

Chris's expression didn't change, except for the slight raise of one eyebrow. She felt a cool sensation in her palm and opened her hand, looking curiously at the object that lay there. "How interesting" She remarked "What do I do with it now?"

Nix tilted her head to one side as a breeze blew through the school and she caught the smell of the forest and then she gave a quick nod and looked back at her companion ,"sorry, just keep a hold on it and should anyone ask you why you're there then show it to them" she said and then grinned. "if you drop it, you won't be able to understand us, so try not to lose it" she said with a small grin and then she started walked towards the door after tucked her long red hair behind her ears and pulling out a lonely black strand of fur

Chris nodded calmly and followed after Nix, but inside she was jumping. This was a kind of magic she'd encountered only very rarely in books and absolutely never in person.

Nix walked through the entrance hall and pushed open the doors a little and slid outside and looked around the courtyard before nodding and then slipping her head back inside the door and waving to her friend. "we're good, there's no one around" she said quickly before ducking out the door again and checking once more

Chris slipped outside after Nix, keeping to the shadows, the stone resting safely in her pocket. Keeping her wand loosely in her hand she asked "You said the stone allowed me to understand you in wolf form. I'm assuming that it works the other way around as well?"

Nix looked back over her sholder and nodded ,"plain and simple, you have a bit of me there that when crossed with magic makes a mental bond between us, we can understand each other and what the other says when we are in different forms. I may have to relay what my pack says to us but I think it works on a certain radius so you'd be able to hear them anyway, but I don't know, I've never taken a human to a pack meet before" she said as she walked across the bridge that lead towards the for forbidden forest

Chris felt both honored by this and a bit like a guinea pig. "Thank you for bringing me along" She said politely. She didn't mention that she would have probably come anyway, even if Nix hadn't invited her. She fingered the stone and slowed a little as they approached the forest. "So what's the etiquette here? Do I wait for you to introduce me or something?"

Nix rolled her eyes and sniggered slightly ,"you can talk all you like, but if the big red wolf or the big grey wolf look at you or tell you to shhh up, then do as your told" she said with a laugh as she walked to the end of the bridge. She pulled off her school robe and then looped it through her school bag and then she tugged off her jumped and then shoved that inside her school bag and then turned back to her compaion ,"and look out for the red wolf with the grey ears, she's a bit mad, she has aggression issues" she said with a warning glance
