Draco hated doing rounds, but that didn't mean he could cheat out of them. Today, of course, was no different, and so he wandered around the edge of the forest, wand drawn, hoping to just get inside soon - after all, it was already dark, since it was past curfew.

Chris was aware that it was past curfew, but tonight, she couldn't bring herself to care all that much. She had been feeling tense all day and put it down to the fact that it was about the time her mother's bi-monthly letter usually arrived. The peace and the darkness calmed and cleared her mind a little. She heard soft footsteps ahead and slipped into the shadows behind a large tree. Just because she was okay with breaking curfew didn't mean she wasn't going to at least try to avoid detention. Unfortunately for her, she disturbed some creature that went racing off into the forest with a loud yelp and lots of rustling. Drawing her wand,Chris held her breath, hoping she wouldn't be discovered. She was fairly well hidden, but that was no guarantee.

Draco heard the animal. He also saw a student hiding out in the trees. But to be completely and totally honest; he didn't care. Not in the least. Let them die an unhappy death at the hands of the centaurs. Whatever. He kept walking, hoping nothing would truly disturb him.

Chris peered out as the person passed but apart from a slight glint as the moonlight caught on fair hair. Judging by the walk she guessed it was a boy. Hopefully not Malfoy, but whoever it was they were gone. Chris failed to see how anyone could not have noticed the noise the creature had made but didn't dwell on it. Perhaps they were late for some sort of secret meeting. She frowned slightly thinking of the death eaters and then shook her head . She was being silly, much more likely a bored prefect. She left the shadows of the tree and continued on her stroll, enjoying the solitude, but she kept her wand in her hand, just in case.
