The girl he was courting - or rather, the girl he wanted to sleep with that night - was a very expensive conquest. She seemed to prefer drinking and drinking to sleeping with him, but the line between the two was becoming blurred. Finally, she was willing to go with him - and just then another of her drunk friends distracted her with a shiny bracelet from her boyfriend.
Annoyed, and having spent a lot of money on her drinks, He went to the bar, ordering himself a firewhiskey. If he wasn't getting laid, he should at least get drunk.

Chris held back a yawn as her friends...and she used the term loosely....oohed and ahhhed over yet another present one of them, she thought her name was Jessica, had received from her boyfriend. They had been here for hours and she was getting bored of the inane chatter. She'd had two dragon's bloods already, the strong, spicy cocktail being her poison of choice and was feeling slightly tipsy. She decided to go with something less lethal for the next round and went up to the bar to order a butter beer. Glancing around her she noticed a boy sitting a couple seats over looking just as bored as she was "And I always thought bars were supposed to be fun" she said to no one in particular. She sat and tipped her glass towards him slightly in a mock salute "Here's to boredom and broken hearts"

"Who's broken hearted?" Blaise asked, looking around, though he raised his glass anyway. Only idiots gave their hearts away; that was why they got broken. Stupidity, in Blaise's opinion, shouldn't have been pitied.

"I estimate at least a third of tonight's clientele" Chris returned with a wry smile. "Besides, just 'here's to boredom' doesn't sound quite as catchy'. She took another sip of her drink and shot a scornful look in the direction of the group of giggling girls.

Blaise cocked an eyebrow. "Who are you?" He asked her after a moment. More accurately, why was she making small talk?

Chris glanced back towards him, slightly surprised he'd asked. "Christianne" she replied after a moment. Her head was aching now. She shouldn't have had the second Dragon's Blood. Ordering another Butterbeer, she briefly wondered why he wasn't cozied up to a girl by now. In her experience that was the main reason most men went to bars.
