When Chris had been 14, she managed to escape her mother on a trip into London and had ended up in Hyde Park. She had loved it, loved how...normal, well for the muggle world anyway, it had seemed and had taken to coming back occasionally, when she wanted to forget about all the problems that lay waiting back in reality. The Piles of essays to be looked over until they were perfect, the other students, her parents.....He-who-must-not-be-named...... Sometimes it was nice to pretend she was just a muggle, out enjoying the afternoon sunshine, even if it was just for a moment. As she passed a park bench her eye was drawn to a figure that looked strangely familiar. But this was muggle London, there couldn't possibly be anyone she knew here....could there?

There could, yes. Because despite being a pureblood, Kurtis Adams was a muggle loving little bugger - not that anyone knew that. He lied through his teeth to his parents and he pretended to hate them. Really, he loved the muggle technologies; specifically photography. He liked still life photography more than the standard wizarding stuff, and that was why he went to Hyde Park regularly; to photograph the culture he liked so much. However, he was nervous when he spotted Christianne Claremont. As much as he didn't really know her at all, Kurtis was well aware of just how pureblooded her family was. He had been about to snap a photo when he spotted her, but lowered his camera awkwardly when he saw her approaching. He hoped he would be able to think of an excuse.

Looking more closely at the boy through the corner of her eye, Chris realized that she did indeed know him. Kurtis Adams, also a pureblood. What, in Merlin's name, was he doing in muggle London? And with a...was that a muggle camera? Chris's eyes went wide for a second as the paranoia she had been trying to fight off since receiving her mother's last letter emerged in full force. Was he spying on her? No, that was utterly ridiculous. If her parents needed someone to spy on her they wouldn't have gotten a fellow student. Would they? Chris racked her brain, trying to remember what she could of the the boy's family. For a minute, her face was completely open, the surprise and fear clearly visible. She couldn't very well ignore him now. He'd seen her, that much was obvious. She rearranged her features into her normal mask and walked toward him. "Hello Mr. Adams" She greeted. "Fancy seeing you here" She looked at the device he held in his hands, yes, definitely muggle. She smiled slightly, this was unexpected, perhaps there was more to this boy than she had first assumed.

Kurtis swallowed thickly, looking down at his camera. This was decidedly not good. "Ms Claremont." He greeted quickly. "What brings you to the park?" He asked, trying to be polite despite wanting to run away as fast as he could.

Chris's face hardened slightly. "Diagon can be a little stuffy. I felt the need for a break. " She informed him. It wasn't exactly a lie. She just didn't mention that it was the magical world that she needed a break from. The afternoon sun illuminated the face of the boy in front of her and she was struck by the fact that he was very good looking. She remembered thinking that the first time she'd seen him as well, back then he'd been just another stuck-up git to her, but that was before she discovered him in muggle London with a muggle camera. "You are taking photographs I presume?" She asked, looking back at his camera with interest "Might I have a quick look? I've never used a muggle one before." Her wish to try the gadget had effectively lowered her guard and she winced slightly when she realized that expressing interest in a muggle device, while out in the muggle world, to a pureblood whom she didn't know much about, probably wasn't terribly clever.

Immediately, Kurtis' hands covered his large, expensive camera. He was terribly protective of it. "I... uh... I can't. Sorry, it's my... uh... prized possession," He explained, smiling an awkward half smile. "I don't let anyone touch it."

Chris looked puzzled for a second before she nodded in acceptance and returned his smile. "I understand, I was a bit like that with my violin, when I still played." She glanced up at the trees for a moment, remembering. "Do you often come here?" She asked, genuine curiosity in her tone. She hadn't met many purebloods wandering muggle London.

She didn't seem to be fishing for information to feed to his parents, and she didn't seem to be judging him, so Kurtis nodded. "I come here often. It's one of the best places to take photos, because there's so much nature nestled into a place that's so urban." He explained, looking around as though he needed to prove his point. "What about you?"

Chris gave a small smile "That's the beauty of city parks. Its a bit like being in an oasis in a desert of concrete" She paused, wary of admitting to her little breaks, even though Kurtis had done nothing to put her guard up so far. "I come when I can. It's beautiful here...you can just...escape...blend in.." She realized she had taken a chance. If he repeated what she had just said to anyone and it got back to her parents...well, she wouldn't be coming here again, that was certain.

"I always blend in," Kurtis smiled slightly, "Or I try to." Which was, in fact, why they'd never spoken before, he was sure. He always paired with the same person in classes, always ate meals with only his dormmates and closest friends, and spent a lot of time by himself. He liked it that way, after all. "But that's a good reason."

"I've heard it's an art" Chris responded, thinking to herself that really, he shouldn't blend in. Not with his good looks. Girls ought to be falling all over him. She wondered why he he didn't encourage that kind of attention. Most Pureblood heirs she knew would revel in it. Maybe she'd been right and he was different. Or maybe he liked men....She doubted that actually but having said that, she really didn't know at all. Still, she found herself rather wanting to find out a bit more about him. Something bumped her foot at that moment and Chris looked down to see a bright red ball, Glancing around her she spotted a young muggle boy running toward her, He looked about five. Chris picked up the toy and handed it over with a smile "I think this is yours" Watching him run off she turned back to Kurtis "Do you take wizarding photos as well?"
