Truthfully, Graham's mum wasn't the doting or concerned type so him calling Astoria mum had been sarcasm, though appreciated. "It's true." Graham commented nodding in acceptance of her thanks.

"Nice of you to think so" Astoria told him, though she couldn't stop blushing now as she toyed with her salad using her fork.

"I'm a nice guy." Graham supplied. It was true for the most part. At least he didn't try to be a jerk intentionally(most of the time), that was something, right?

"Except in the case of first years," Astoria reminded him with a bemused little smile.

Did first years really count? Graham had never thought they did. When he was a first year he hadn't counted. "Few exceptions I suppose." He amended.

"Glad I'm not one of them," Astoria smiled, laying her hand on his arm, "I like nice guy Graham."

"I don't think, even if you were a firstie, I could not be nice to you." Graham admitted. The simple touch bringing a smile to his lips.

Astoria blushed again, looking down sheepishly. He was just too charming. She had a feeling it was genuine, too, which made it all the more flattering.

To say that seeing Astoria like that didn't please him would have been a bold-faced lie. Instead of commenting on it a little satisfied grin came onto Graham's lips, slightly obscured by his eating.

Letting her blush fade out, Astoria turned back to her food, and her hand shifted from his arm to his thigh, not willing to lose the contact, since she had no need for her other hand, anyway. She ate for a while in comfortable silence before smiling, "Have you noticed we've not been attacked by the hounds yet?"

Graham hadn't noticed actually. Something about Astoria made everything else seem obsolete. But at the mention of it Graham glanced up and looked around. "It helps to be not so nice sometimes, I guess." Maybe that had nothing to do with it but it was the only explanation that he had.

Astoria smiled, "Yes, that must be it." She nodded, taking another bite of her salad. Almost finished, she pondered her next move. She supposed she should leave him after this, end things on a positive note before they spent too much time together.

Just as Astoria said that one of the girls he was friends with began to approach. At the sight of her Graham subtly shook his head letting her know it wasn't a good time. Despite the obvious disappointment on her face Graham didn't want to ruin his time with Astoria. "What do you usually do after dinner?"

Astoria didn't notice the exchange at all, too busy pondering her salad and her plans for the evening. She looked up at Graham as he addressed her, then shrugged. "Depends on the day. Nothing important, usually." Her homework was completed in a timely and efficient manner, so she had none to speak of, which meant she would likely spend the evening reading. "And yourself?"

"Schoolwork, usually." Graham didn't hop to as quickly as Astoria did. No, he waited until the evening, after he spent some time mingling in the Common Room. Otherwise he was in the library on a weekend finishing it up then. Not that Graham didn't take his schoolwork seriously, he just wasn't a stickler about it.
