Alicia clamped her mouth shut for a second. Before what Katie had said she had just thought it was all playful banter between them but all this time... George was hinting, wasn't he? What to do? "It is, a shame."

"Ah well, I'll just go find greener pastures!" George beamed, lowering her back to her feet, "Preferably ones that aren't so gosh-darn heavy!" He teased, nudging her.

"Hey!" Alicia scolded. "I worked hard to get this heavy. Eating can be very tedious." She wasn't sensitive about her weight. She was a little disappointed that George wasn't admitting anything to her. Maybe Katie had been wrong and it really was just playful banter.

"Well then I guess we better get started on lunch," George decided, offering his hand again.

"Excellent idea!" Alicia replied, enthusiastic. She took his offered hand this time leading the way herself.

George followed along, but found himself wondering something. "Hey Al, you don't actually fancy McLaggen, though, right?"

She didn't mean to laugh, not when George seemed some what serious for once, but the ridiculousness of that made not laughing impossible. "No, he's a git."

"I thought so. But who knows with you girls." George shrugged, "You like all sorts of strange things."

"As opposed to you boys." Alicia raised a brow. "Always falling for that bitchy, pretty girl who treats you like crap because they have something special about them." She had seen it time and time again.

"Well if I didn't fall for that girl I wouldn't have fallen for you!" George pointed out, batting his eyelashes at her, "And then where would we be?"

Alicia had to think carefully about her answer. Since there was no other girl, not that she knew of at least, what she said would make all the difference. "Then we'd be dating."

George stopped for a moment, looking at Alicia seriously. What did she mean by that? He was only teasing, saying she was just like the girl she was describing, and then she went and said something like that? Having hesitated too long to make a witty comment, he feigned confusion; "Wait, we're not dating?"

This was exactly why Alicia didn't concern herself with such things. She always messed them up, misread signs, said the wrong thing. She looked away from George noting his confusion. "No."

"And you think we should be?" George asked, stepping back into her line of vision.

Alicia wasn't so cowardly as to look away again. Glancing up at George she shrugged. "I don't know. I thought that was what you were getting at."
