Celery was great. A lot of people didn't like it because it was stringy, or because it had no real flavour, but Rose disagreed; it was perfect for adding things to; peanut butter, dressings, that sort of thing. Besides that, it was crunchy, which she was definitely a plus, in her books. That was why she went out to the vegetable garden in search of some - but it didn't seem like there was any to be had. Puzzled as to why, Rose stood in the midst of the garden, jeans and sleeves rolled up and dirt all over her.

Garrett loved food. Not much to that, but Garrett loved food. It didn't matter what kind, it be roasted pig, fish tail, pineapple drizzled in chocolate, whatever it may be, Garrett ate it, and he loved it. But his favorite food of them all? Simple. Tomato. There were so many things that one could make with tomato. Tomato sauce, bruschetta, the classic tomato soup, or even salsa.
Bruschetta sounded especially good at the moment. He could pick some fresh tomatoes from the vegetable garden, take it to the kitchens and make himself a nice treat. Garrett's stomach growled. He sauntered into the garden, heading straight for the tomato plant when he saw there was someone already in the garden. He looked over at the girl all covered in dirt and let out a surprised, "Hi, didn't know anyone else was in here."

"It isn't exactly a normal haunt for people. Mostly vegetables and worms." Rose smiled, "And me, I suppose."

"And me." Garrett added with a grin. He walked away from the tomatoes and toward the girl. She was a Hufflpuff, Garrett recalled. Her name being... Rose? She was the type of person who wasn't easily forgotten- what with the pink in her hair and all. "You're Rose." He more stated then questioned with a wide smile.

Garrett chuckled, "Right." He shook his head, feeling a little embarrassed, but continued to smile. He walked back over to the tomato plant and picked out a few ripe ones, Garrett looked back at Rose. "Out of curiosity, what were you looking for?"

"Celery," Rose answered, glancing around again, "But I can't find any. Just tomatoes for you?"

"They probably don't grow celery because no one enjoys celery. Other than a hand full of people." Garrett said, offering his reasoning. Even he wasn't a fan, unless it came with melted caramel. "Pretty much. Tomatoes, maybe some garlic... if they have any."

Rose wrinkled her nose. She knew not many people liked celery, but she did, wasn't that reason enough? "I think the herbs are over this way," She said as she moved through the plants. "What are you making?"

Garrett tucked the tomatoes under his arm and walked towards her again, more like followed. She weaved through the plants, guiding him to the herbs. "I'm making bruschetta," he replied with a large grin. "Ever have it? It's fan-tastic"

"Oh- what? You're missing out, let me tell you. You. Are. Missing Out. You have to try some. Lucky for you my mother tells me I make the best bruschetta in the world!" Garrett extended his arms out at the word 'world' to emphasize. He smiled, a clear sign of excitement in his eyes. He hadn't made bruschetta in so long, it will be nice to have such a familiar treat. As he sauntered down the isle of plants, searching for some garlic, he listed all the things needed for the snack. "Well, there's different versions. Like... sandwiches. Same basic principle and ingredient, but you can put whatever else you want between the two slices of bread. In my bruschetta, put in garlic, tomatoes- obviously- some oil and balsamic vinegar, basil- which I should get here too- salt, pepper, mozzerella cheese and some bread." His mouth was about watering by the time he was done. Garrett glanced over at Rose and bumped his hip against hers, "We could even add some celery if we ever find any."

"I'm not one to mess with a recipe, even for the absolute best vegetable" Rose grinned, bumping him right back, "But it sounds really good, are you going down to the kitchens after, then?"

Garrett reached out as he walked to pluck a few basil stems that seemed to have bountiful leaves, and tucked them uncomfortably under his arm along with the tomatoes. "Absolutely, hopefully the house elves won't mind too much if I use their oven and counter space. You are joining me, aren't you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow her way.
