Oliver let out a whoop as he took a daring dive, pulling up just before he hit the ground. He loved the adrenaline rush and sense of freedom he got while flying. He angled the broom back towards the sky and took off again. His classmates could chase girls all they wanted. Oliver would rather chase quaffles.

Katie was sick of school work - and sick of dealing with people - which was why she headed out to her favourite retreat; the Quidditch pitch. Her goal was to fly around and relax, but the figure she saw soaring up towards the clouds made her rethink that. She'd had a crush on Oliver since as long as she could remember, and it was impossible to be 'calm' when he was around. She had a feeling he'd spotted her, but none the less turned on her heel to walk away.

From his vantage point, Oliver quickly spotted his fellow team mate and started to fly toward her, giving a wave to get her attention. To his surprise, she started to walk away. That was weird. Why would she come out to the pitch and just walk away again? He racked his brains thinking about his last conversation with her. Had he said something to upset her?? He frowned and sped up, wanting to catch her. Maybe he had been a little bit... intense about the new practice hours. "Oi, Bell!!!" He yelled "Katie!!! KATIE!!!! Wait a second!!!" He landed on the grass, and waited for her to turn around.

She really had hoped, but then Katie wasn't that lucky, was she? She turned, smiling weakly at him before strolling back towards where he'd landed. "Hey Oliver" She greeted, "Thought it might have been your alone time, didn't want to intrude." She told him, though it was mostly the opposite.

Oliver grinned at her "Nah...you know me...thought I'd get in some extra practice" He gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Why don't you head up as well?" He asked, pointing to the bright blue sky. "I can show you part of the plan of attack for the next game." Remembering that he had just been worrying about having been too intense about the new schedule he gave a casual shrug "Unless you've got somewhere else to be? You were walking off pretty quickly back there" He gave her another smile.

"No. I mean, yes! I... I don't have anywhere to be" Katie managed, feeling extremely hot all of a sudden as the back of her neck heated up. "But yes, we could go flying, if you want. I mean, obviously you want to, or you wouldn't have brought it up, but I wouldn't be opposed."

Oliver raised his eyebrows as she stuttered and chuckled "I'll never figure you out Kates." The nickname slipped off his tongue so easily, and he frowned for a second. Where had that come from? Admittedly, he considered Katie a good friend and she was also an excellent chaser, but when had she stopped being Bell or Katie and become Kates? He hoped she wouldn't be offended, but dismissed the thought and with a smile got back onto his broom. "Come on then....race you two laps, see if you're still in shape" He joked.

A term of endearment? A nickname? Her heart swelled, though he seemed to have just done it in passing, and she tried to remind herself that this was Oliver; she was just a chaser, to him. "I'm still in shape," She assured, "And faster than you, no less" She added as she mounted her broom as well.

Oliver gave her a grin. "Are you now? That sounds like a challenge. Count of three then. One,two, three!" And he sped off.

Chasers were meant to be faster than keepers, at least at longer distances. Sure, in front of the hoops he was quick, but she was quick up and down the pitch for hours at a time, continuously. And so, Katie took off after him, after a sniped remark about his cheating by speeding off before she was ready. "Scared a girl could beat you, Wood?" She called as she caught up.

Oliver smiled brightly when she caught up to him "Nah...just testing your reaction time" He laughed "Besides, I'm just warming up" He pulled ahead again with another grin "What's keeping you Bell?" He called jokingly over his shoulder. He wasn't really expecting to win this little race, although he would try. Katie was the fastest flyer on the team.

Katie almost laughed. "Give up now, Wood, you know I'm going to win" She called after him, before leaning down so her chest was pressed nearly to the wood of her broom, speeding past him.

Oliver laughed as she sped past him. She really was a great flyer. There was no way he could win this one. Shrugging in resignation he took off after her again, pulling up above her as he tried to gain some distance on her.

Katie slowed down, looping up beside him. "What do you think you're doing?" She asked, grinning at the captain. She found that despite her awkwardness around Oliver, flying made him much easier to be around. Flying made everything easier, actually.

Shooting a fake- hurt expression, Oliver put his hand over his heart "Saw right through me!" He exclaimed before smiling at her and stopping, glancing down over the Hogwarts grounds. "Ahh...that lot don't know what they're missing" He pointed towards a group of students trudging towards the castle on foot. Sighing contentedly he gave Katie another grin. "I don't know about you, but I could do with a butter beer" He said "How about we finish this race on the way back to the broom shed?"
