The corridors down in the dungeons normally weren't too bad, Declan found, and yet today they seemed to be absolutely horrid. He wasn't sure why, but it seemed like half the school's population had decided to spend time down there, much to his annoyance as he tried to battle his way through the crowd to get back to the common room, tempted to hex half the students that he passed.

Chris looked at the swarm of green robed students around her with wide eyes. Why on earth were so many people down here? Perhaps the Slytherins were holding a plotting session? She rolled her eyes at the thought and continued to make her way through them as best she could, giving discreet pokes with her wand when necessary. Briefly she considered sending Maia an owl, it might be easier than continuing to search the crowd for her but decided that if she could make it to the Slytherin common room entrance, she could at least find out if her friend was in there. She'd gotten this far after all. Clearing a path by brandishing her wand in front of her, Chris nearly tripped when someone gave her a shove. Spinning around to confront the culprit, she found herself face to face with a Slytherin boy she didn't remember seeing around before. "Do you mind not elbowing me in the ribs quite so hard?" She asked, her tone was calm but with a definite edge.

Declan's face simply hardened at the girls words, far from being impressed with them. Honestly, who did she think she was talking to and better yet, why be so stupid as to do so down here, of all places? To top it all off, he hadn't actually been the one to elbow her in the ribs, the culprit had just managed to get away before she'd realised. Declan wasn't interested in elbowing anyone. In fact, the less contact he had with them all, the better, really.

Chris narrowed her eyes when the boy didn't reply, dying to do something nasty. "Typical" She muttered, managing to restrain herself from cursing him. "In the unlikely event that you do actually have more than single brain cell, I think you should know you're doing a poor job of showing it" Chris hissed at him. Then she turned on her heel and tried to push her way forward once again. Even with her wand out as incentive for others to move, she only got a few feet. Thinking she saw her friend's wavy black hair ahead she called out "Maia! MAIA!"

Insults were something that Declan would normally ignore. Normally he couldn't be goaded into reacting but there was something about this girl that just rubbed him the wrong way straight off the bat and so he didn't hesitate, lifting his wand and firing a spell in her direction under his breath so she'd not hear. If all went well (and really, there was no reason why it shouldn't), the little brunette would find herself feeling as though her insides were bubbling away, boiling below her skin, despite the fact that it would all just be in her mind.

Chris saw her chance when another student in front of her dropped their books. Stepping quickly in front of the girl and her friend who had stopped to help pick them up, Chris turned when a howl of pain echoed throughout the corridor. The friend of the girl who had dropped her books was standing, clutching her stomach, her face screwed up in a grimace. Chris's eyes locked on the face of the boy who had been so rude earlier and without a second thought she shot a levicorpus spell at him. She took particular exception when people tried to hex her, especially when her back was turned and she was almost positive that the spell that had hit the other girl had been meant for her. She was also almost positive that it was the boy's fault.

Of course she'd get lucky. Having realised that he could use the people around him to his advantage, Declan was also able to dodge her spell, although it only just missed him by mere inches, if that. She might have got lucky once but if there was one thing she shouldn't have done it was send a spell his way because it only put Declan on the defense, which was really worse than the attack, most of the time. Without hesitation Declan sent a disarming spell in her direction before moving through the crowd slightly and sending another spell towards her, this time an offensive one, one that would strip her of her senses, that would all but leave her defenseless. After all, she could only get lucky so many times in a row and Declan planned to continue sending spells her way until that stopped happening.

Facing your attacker always helped and luckily, in this case at least, Chris had had plenty of practice dodging spells when her father was in a rage, the disarming spell hit her, but in such a crowd her wand didn't fly far and she managed to grab it and avoid his next, rather nasty spell. She was fuming with rage by now. If this boy wanted a duel he would get one. She quickly cast a conjunctivitis curse, which would make his eyes horrifically pain full and then a confundus charm, before she erected a protego shield around herself. Chris was quite adept at shield spells and was fairly sure it would hold. She wondered how smart the boy was. The shield would reflect any magical attack, but if he decided to assult her physically........ Chris wasn't quite sure what the outcome would be.He was only slightly taller than her, but quite a lot bigger.

Despite the fact that the crowd was annoying the shit out of him, Declan was also grateful for it, too, because if it wasn't for the crowd her curse would have probably had more success at hitting him rather than simply whizzing by not millimeters from his face. Declan didn't let it bother him though, instead simply disappearing into the crowd fully intending to get his hands on her if he could so he could strangle her since the crowd was too thick to actually do any damage with spells.

"Damn" Chris muttered, as her hex missed him. She was beyond annoyed. It was this stupid crowd!!! It was literally impossible to aim properly with people continually shoving you. She stood quite still, wand grasped tightly in her hand, ready to fight whenever the boy showed his face again. Where had he gone? Her whole body was tense, waiting for his next move. She wouldn't be caught off guard.

Declan had decided to use the crowd to his advantage this time, creeping through it cautiously, making sure to keep out of her line of sight as he gradually moved around behind her and made his way closer, looking at her every so often to make sure she couldn't see him.

Chris was nervous, and she hated it. She turned, thinking she caught sight of him but then losing him just as quickly. She re-cast a shielding spell just in case and continued scanning the crowd. He wouldn't get her by magic. She noticed a couple of taller students standing to her left and moved slightly in between them. Using them as an extra barrier. They looked at her oddly, obviously waiting for her to give an explanation and she realized they were both in her Astronomy class. She would explain later.

She was edgy, she was relying on other people to keep her safe. That, to Declan, meant that she was no where near as strong as she wanted everyone to believe. In fact, it was that alone that made him decide that she needed putting in her place and so he snuck up behind one of the two she was using for cover. He then waited until something caused the two of them to look in the opposite direction before he made his move, creeping up behind her and wrapping a hand around her mouth while his other hand aimed for her wand hand as he pulled her backwards, intending to get her out of the sight of everyone else so as to be able to properly deal with her.

Chris let out a scream that was muffled by his hand and kicked him as hard as she could. Considering that she was wearing shoes that had particularly sharp heels, she supposed that this would hurt. She also struck out with her elbow, hitting him hard in the stomach in an attempt to wind him. Feeling his hand close around her wand arm, she wrenched as hard as she could, relived when she managed to pull it free. Chris might look delicate but years of riding her mother's rather wild winged horses and secret quidditch matches had made her fairly strong for a girl. Plus, she was tall at 5"11, and that gave her an advantage.

Alright, so grabbing her wand hand hadn't quite worked out like planned and so Declan was quick to move his own wand to the back of her head, just behind her ear, informing her that he'd not hesitate to hex her in a slightly breathless manner. The kick and elbow to his stomach had hurt, a lot, but he wasn't stupid enough to let her go, hand remaining over her mouth tightly. He needed some hold on her.
