Cal was intent on learning to do flips - Back flips, front flips, whatever - but he knew he had to be very careful, not to get caught by his loving siblings, so he ventured outside to find the perfect spot.
That was when he decided to climb the wall on either side of the front gates, intending to flip from the top of it. Casting a cushioning charm on the ground below, he took a deep breath, readying himself to jump.

Elle was once again on the hunt for her best friend and what better place to start with than the very place that she usually looked last; The Front Gates. Rose's smoking was such a bad habit but Elle supposed everyone had one and she was beginning to think a certain someone was quickly becoming hers.
As she approached though, instead of seeing Rose, Elle gasped at the sight of a boy on top of the wall. She ran the rest of the way already shouting at him. "What are you trying to do? Hurt yourself? Please, come down!" Her voice seemed more pleading than angry and rightfully so.

The sudden noise shocked Cal out of his focus, and the boy toppled from the wall, landing in the area he'd softened. "I was just... I mean... Sorry" He said hurriedly, frowning as he got to his feet.

As the boy was tumbling to the ground Elle's heart stopped. Him falling had been completely her fault, but when he didn't hurt himself she let out her pent up breath and rushed over to him. Putting her hand on his arm Elle frantically looked him over just to be sure. "You scared me half to death." She admitted letting her worry seep through her voice. Relief swept over Elle making her pull the boy into a tight embrace.

"I... uh... softening charm" Cal stuttered out, confused and unable to think straight with this pretty girl he didn't even know hugging him.

Slowly, Elle's senses were coming back to her. He must have thought her crazy and she released him carefully biting into her lower lip. "I'm just glad you are alright." Looking up into the boy's face she introduced herself. "I'm Elle."

"Cal" He returned, "And... uh, I appreciate that."

Determined to force the awkwardness away, Elle smiled. "So what were you doing up there?" Now that Cal was safe and she knew he wasn't hurt Elle was awfully curious.

"Well I was... uh, I was going to try to learn how... how to do a flip" Cal explained, "And I thought maybe doing it from up higher would make it easier."

Elle's face lit up at the notion. "That's so cool." She gushed. She couldn't do anything like that, well maybe a somersault. "I think you could learn to do one easily."

"I... appreciate the faith," Cal grinned, "But I don't know if that's true. Can you do one?"

"Me? Oh no. I tried before, when I was ten I think, it didn't work out so well." Realizing that this probably wasn't encouraging at all Elle added, "But you seem rather fit, strong and all that so you should have better luck."

Fit? Strong? Cal almost laughed. "Not really. Just good genes. How badly do you think I might hurt myself?"

Genes or not Elle couldn't help but notice while she had been hugging him that Cal had a pretty nice physique. "Well you were clever enough to put on the cushioning charm so not too badly at all."

"Right" Cal nodded, looking up at the wall again, "Now I'm not sure I want to go back up there..."
