"And yet an offer not taken," Rose smiled, knowingly, "Who is she, then?"

"Astoria Greengrass." Graham saw no shame in letting Rose in this. Even if it was something he was still trying to work out himself.

Rose was surprised, to say the least. Her eyebrows shot upwards and she nearly laughed, though she held it in. "Pretty little blond thing? A little timid for you, isn't she?" Rose had been intending to set her up with Kenny, actually.

"She is timid." Graham agreed. "But I think I like her. Besides we have an arrangement in the works. I feel that I owe to her to get used to being with only her, you know?" Was he being stupid? It was possible.

"I guess so" Rose shrugged. "Doesn't seem your style, though, really." She frowned, not sure she really understood. He was the least likely person to settle down, as far as she could tell.

"What's is my type?" He asked, curious as to how she perceived him to be.

"Someone who knows their way around your bed" Rose suggested with a shrug. "Someone clever but not brilliant, someone pretty, which she's got going, I suppose."

Rose wasn't wrong, that was basically what he wanted, but if so then why did he like Astoria? She was inexperienced, brilliant, beautiful, and so much more. "She grows on you, at least on me."

Rose grinned. "So you're dating, then? All serious and stuff?"

"Well, no, not exactly." He frowned slightly. "It's complicated." Which Graham hated when things were complicated.

"So you're still single?" Rose asked, eyebrow raised, "Why let things be complicated?"

"I'm engaged to be engaged." Graham simplified it as accurately as he could. Did Rose have to deal with that sort of pureblood tradition?

"Why does it matter, though? I mean, I don't really get that whole thing" Because her parents valued love more than reputation. "If you do end up engaged, doesn't she have to marry you whether you're faithful or not?"

"Yes, she does." But Graham also didn't think it all that fair to Astoria. He wasn't exactly like his mates in that sense. Graham might have slept around but he didn't like to lead girls on. "But I don't want to hurt her."

"But you're not together." Rose really didn't get it. "So what could she possibly be expecting from you?"
