Zonko knew Fred and George to be his best customers, but they weren't quite sure whether he had yet gotten wind of the news that they would soon be his competition. Either way, Fred had chosen to chance it, although for once he attempted not to draw any attention to himself as he slipped into the shop. Because the thing was - he was here for research. Sure, the twins already knew endless amounts about joke shops and joke products - they'd spent their whole lives around them - but Fred was looking into the finer details. Displaying, advertising, even décor. He'd decided against physically noting anything down, but he would do well enough memorising everything.

Katie liked Zonko's well enough. In fact, it was probably her second favourite shop in Hogsmeade. She wasn't much for jokes but she was something for avoiding being caught in Fred and George's, and buying them a jokey gift once in a while was a clever way to keep out of the crossfire. However, that day when she went in, she found herself faced with the very thing she was trying to avoid. "Ey Fred. Finding anything worthwhile?" She asked, knowing he was making a lot of his own stuff now, though she wasn't sure Zonko knew (else the twin would probably be out on his very nice arse, really.)

"Yeah, yeah, it's all very nice," Fred replied distractedly, bending down to inspect the packaging on the Sugar Quills. He'd bought so many in his time, but he'd never really looked at them closely before - he'd have to make sure that his and George's fake wands wouldn't have similar packaging. "Funny stuff."

Katie raised an eyebrow. "Best joke stuff on the market, I've heard," She said slowly. not sure what else to say as she leaned on the shelf beside where he was looking. "What is it that you're doing?"

"Ah," Fred popped back up and grinned down at Katie. "Not for long, if you don't spoil this sleuthing mission for me." Thinking that answered her question, he edged along the shelf.

A mission? Interesting. So then he was just scoping out Zonko's products to steal or avoid stealing - she couldn't be sure. "I don't want to spoil it - I want to help."

"You can help by stop looking so bloody eye-catching," Fred decided, looking back at her and pausing thoughtfully for a moment. After half a second's consideration, he pulled Katie's hair in front of her face, pushing over her face. "There. Now, what do you think of the packaging on those Sugar Quills?"

Katie blustered for a moment in protest, then tried to blow her hair out of her face. "I would tell you if I could see them," She muttered, then finger combed her hair back and squatted to look at the packaging. "They're ugly." She informed him, having never looked at them really, before.
