Chris slipped quietly inside one of the smaller greenhouses with a sigh of relief. All through dinner she had had to listen to stupid questions from younger students who had not yet learned that she preferred to be left alone in the evenings or from people who asked personal things she didn't care to discuss. The silence and solitude that she found out here were a welcome break. She didn't really care that it was nearly curfew. Few people bothered to visit the greenhouses after dark and so it was unlikely she'd be found by anyone except Maia, who occasionally joined her here. Sitting down and leaning against the cool grass Chris closed her eyes and allowed herself to relax for the first time that day.

Some Prefects thought that rounds were a drag. Most of the time all you did was walk around finding nothing but Kenny quite enjoyed them. He liked the stillness of everything, especially outside, which his luck of the draw had been landed with him that evening. There was still a little bit of time before curfew, so, still a little bit of time before his rounds officially started. Kenny headed out early though wandering around on his usual route when he came upon the Greenhouse. It was custom for him to glance in and he did. Only when he reached the third one did Kenny see something amiss, a girl inside. It wasn't yet curfew so he didn't need to punish her, which was good. "Excuse me." He spoke softly. "I don't know if you were aware but it is nearly curfew."

Chris jumped when she heard someone speaking to her. Opening her eyes she glanced up into a boy's face. She recognized him as a prefect. Just her luck. Chris tried very hard not to let the weariness she felt seep into her voice but was not altogether successful. "I was aware actually" She replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Oh." Kenny looked down at the trampled ground wondering what he should do. He didn't have any authority to tell the girl to leave yet because she still had a little time to go, but she would be cutting it awfully close, especially if she was in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. His hand went to the back of his neck rubbing there nervously. "So your just going to sit there until the last minute then?" Kenny checked.

Despite her tiredness, Chris felt a corner of her mouth quirk upwards in a faint smile. "So it seems" She closed her eyes again. "It takes me 8 minutes to get back to the tower if I run. There are 15 before curfew. That leaves me with 7 minutes in which I can relax and just not think about anything very much." She paused "You see....out here...there's not usually anyone around and I can pretend that nothing else exists except the inside of this Greenhouse"

Listening to her explanation he couldn't find any fault in it. She seemed to have everything worked out. "I understand." Kenny nodded. He was big into Herbology so knew how easy it was to just let everything else disappear from mind. Kenny wondered if he should just stay or come back later to make sure the girl went off when she was supposed to, but if he stayed he'd intrude, he was sure. Kenny glanced around feeling awkward as a moment passed trying to decide what to do.

Chris let out a soft chuckle and glanced up at him "You know...I really think you do. Understand, that is. Not many do" Sensing his awkwardness she placed a a hand on the patch of ground besides her. "Sit if you'd like" Normally, another person hanging around would have made Chris grind her teeth in annoyance but for some reason, this boy didn't feel like an intruder at all. Maybe it was because she was so tuned out of everything at the moment, or maybe he was just different.

He could agree with that. Herbology typically wasn't a crowd favorite. Most people found plants and the like to be boring or require too much care, who wanted to spend all day purning Tentacula? Kenny but he was only one of very few. At the girl's offer Kenny tentatively approached, sitting down where she had indicated. It couldn't hurt, right? "My name's Kenny."

Chris smiled again "Pleasure" She told him "Chris" She offered her hand, her sense of etiquette too deeply ingrained for her to drop, even now.

Chris? That was a strange name for a girl. Kenny could only assume that it was a nickname. "Nice to meet you too, Chris." He smiled brightly. "I have an Uncle Chris." He added.

Chris chuckled "I'm guessing that in his case, it's an abbreviation of Christian rather than Christianne" She paused, the faint scent of Lovage and another herb, filling her senses. "The centaurs must be stargazing tonight" She murmured, knowing they burned certain leaves to aid them in their divination. "I suppose Kenny is short for Kenneth?" She asked, snapping her attention back to the boy besides her.

"Christopher." Kenny corrected. His mum's brother was the person in question, someone that Kenny always felt cooler than he was around, because Uncle Chris made feel like he wasn't such a dork. "Probably are." He agreed catching a whiff of it himself. "Yeah, Kenneth. Kenneth Towler."

Chris looked puzzled for a second "I wonder why the possibility of Christopher didn't occur to me" Dismissing the thought she leaned forward a little stretching her stiff shoulders "The only downside to sitting against a cold glass wall for extended periods" She said wryly. "Backache" Reaching a hand up to her neck she brushed a couple of curls out of the way and pressed at the base of her skull. "Apparently muggles have this thing called Acupuncture" She informed him "Which is supposed to be good. Not sure I like the idea of someone sticking pins in me like a voodoo doll really. Have you heard of it?"

Kenny nodded. "I've heard of it." He was muggle himself so it wasn't a foreign concept to him. "The pins alleviate pressure and tension in your muscles. I've never had it done myself but it works for lots of people so I'm pretty sure it is credible." Thinking for a moment the mental imagine of being used as a live voodoo doll came and didn't appeal, it seemed painful, which, and he added, "Acupuncture isn't supposed to hurt that much though."

Chris sighed in relief as she felt the muscles in her neck loosen under the pressure from her fingers. "That's reassuring. Hmm...perhaps I'll try it. Just have to hope I don't faint at the sight of the needles. " She joked "That happens to some people I've heard"
